How We Treat Cockroaches From the Ground Up
Every service starts with a thorough inspection of both the interior and exterior of your home. We find where roaches are hiding first, then treat accordingly.
Cockroach infestations rarely stay in one place. A complete treatment plan reaches every spot they use: perimeter spraying, baseboard applications, under sinks, plumbing spaces, windowsills, entry points, and the garage. We also apply lawn granulation 20 feet out from the structure as part of our exterior treatment, and we can place glue traps in corners to catch lingering pests after the main treatment takes effect.
Because colonies often retreat into wall voids and other hidden spaces, effective control typically combines residual sprays, baiting, and crack-and-crevice applications to reach nesting areas that surface treatments can’t touch. Follow-up visits let us monitor activity and reinforce treatment where roaches have regrouped. All of our treatments comply with Texas Department of Agriculture regulations.
For homeowners who want ongoing protection, we offer quarterly service with attic inspections included at no added cost. Every treatment plan is tailored to your property and the specific species present, not a generic formula applied to every house.

Common Cockroach Species in San Antonio
San Antonio’s Bexar County climate supports multiple cockroach species, and knowing which one you’re dealing with directly affects how we treat it. German roaches require intensive interior baiting and crack-and-crevice work. Peridomestic species like American and Oriental roaches respond to perimeter protection and entry-point sealing. Treating the wrong species the wrong way wastes time and can leave the infestation intact.
Four species account for most roach calls in San Antonio:
- German cockroach: Small, light brown with two dark stripes behind the head. Fast-reproducing and almost entirely indoor. Kitchens and bathrooms are their territory, and they’re the most difficult indoor species to manage.
- American cockroach: Large, reddish-brown, and capable of short flights. Often enters homes through sewers, drains, and garages. Common in older construction and areas with aging plumbing.
- Oriental cockroach: Dark brown to black with a shiny surface, sometimes called a water bug. Prefers cool, damp environments like drains and crawl spaces. Rarely climbs.
- Smokybrown cockroach: Attracted to moisture and light. Enters through attics, vents, and rooflines, making upper entry points a critical part of any treatment plan.
Signs of a Cockroach Infestation at Home
Cockroaches are nocturnal, so most homeowners don’t see one until the population is already established. The earlier you catch the signs, the easier it can be to treat. Beyond the discomfort of sharing your home with them, roaches spread bacteria, contaminate food surfaces, and produce allergens that can trigger asthma and respiratory reactions.
Watch for these warning signs:
- Droppings: Small dark specks resembling ground pepper, found in cabinets, drawers, and along baseboards
- Musty or oily odor: A distinct smell produced by congregating roaches, especially in enclosed spaces
- Shed skins: Translucent exoskeletons left behind as nymphs molt, often found in dark corners or under appliances
- Smear marks: Dark, irregular stains along lower walls or floors in high-moisture areas
- Egg cases (oothecae): Small, dark capsules containing multiple eggs, hidden near food or moisture sources
- Daytime sightings: Seeing a live roach during daylight hours often signals a large, overcrowded infestation
