Scorpion Control in San Antonio

Local, Owner-Operated Treatment Built for San Antonio Homes

San Antonio has a scorpion problem, and it gets worse every July and August. The heat pushes scorpions indoors in search of shelter and food, and the city’s limestone terrain gives them plenty of places to hide. At SATX Pest Control, we’ve been helping San Antonio homeowners handle this since 2017. We’re owner-operated, fully licensed and insured, and every technician on our team lives here. That means we already know the neighborhoods, the soil conditions, and the seasonal patterns driving scorpion activity where you live.

The striped bark scorpion is the dominant species in Central and South Texas. It’s persistent, it’s a climber, and it’s small enough to squeeze through gaps no wider than a credit card. Getting ahead of it takes more than a surface spray.

We offer free estimates with no obligation. Call us at (726) 227-2611 or reach out online to schedule yours.

Why San Antonio Homeowners Choose SATX Pest Control

We’re not a franchise. There’s no corporate template dictating how we treat your home. As an owner-operated company, we build each treatment plan around your specific property conditions rather than a standardized program. Our technicians are San Antonio residents who understand local pest behavior firsthand, and our licensing covers general pest control, termite, and rodent management.

Customers consistently mention our technicians’ friendliness, professionalism, and thoroughness. Free estimates remove the guesswork before you commit to anything. We also serve the Boerne area for homeowners just outside the city.

Our Scorpion Control Process

Our service follows three stages: Inspection, Treatment, and Follow-Up. Each step addresses a different part of the scorpion problem so nothing gets missed.

Inspection

We inspect both the exterior and interior of your property, looking for harborage sites, entry points, and the conditions drawing scorpions in, including the insect populations they feed on. What we find shapes exactly how we treat.

Treatment

Exterior treatment includes a perimeter barrier spray and lawn granulation applied 20 feet out from the home, plus removal of wasp nests and cobwebs. Inside, we treat baseboards, entry points, windowsills, under-sink areas, plumbing spaces, and the garage. Scorpions shelter deep in wall voids and structural gaps, so interior treatment matters as much as perimeter work. We can also place glue traps in corners to catch lingering pests.

Follow-Up

Ongoing quarterly service is available, with additional visits as needed. Quarterly agreements include a free attic inspection, which matters because bark scorpions are climbers and attics are one of their preferred hiding zones.

Why Scorpions Are a Persistent Problem in San Antonio

San Antonio’s warm climate, rocky limestone terrain, and abundant insect populations make it one of the more active scorpion environments in Texas. The striped bark scorpion is yellowish-tan with two dark stripes along its back, averages about 2⅜ inches in length, and can fit through a gap the thickness of a credit card. It’s nocturnal, spending the day in cool, dark spaces like attics, wall voids, closets, under-sink areas, and garages.

Scorpions enter homes through foundation cracks, unsealed weep holes, gaps around doors and windows, and compromised vent covers. Indoor encounters increase sharply in July and August, and the signs aren’t always obvious: shed exoskeletons near baseboards or foundation edges and increased nighttime sightings are both worth taking seriously. A sting from a striped bark scorpion can cause significant pain, swelling, and potential allergic reactions. Stings are rarely lethal to healthy adults, but children, elderly individuals, and immunocompromised people face higher risk.

Scorpion Prevention Between Professional Treatments

Scorpion control works best when paired with consistent prevention at home. Here are the steps that make the biggest difference:

  • Remove harborage sites: Clear debris, wood piles, logs, and stones from around the foundation. Store firewood elevated and away from the house.
  • Seal entry points: Caulk cracks in the foundation, apply weatherstripping around doors and windows, and cover weep holes with mesh screens.
  • Manage moisture: Address leaks and eliminate standing water. Scorpions enter homes during hot, dry periods in search of water.
  • Trim vegetation: Cut back trees, hedges, and foliage that contact the exterior walls, which serve as climbing pathways.
  • Reduce their food supply: Spiders, cockroaches, centipedes, and crickets inside the home keep scorpions coming back. Controlling these insects is a step that surface-level treatments often miss.

DIY sprays rarely reach deep harborage zones in attics and wall voids. For persistent activity, professional treatment is the more reliable path.
